Rent in advance is required prior to accepting a tenancy and may be up to 4 weeks depending on when your next pay date / universal credit date is. Our preferred ongoing method of payment is Direct Debit.

When starting a tenancy with Dudley Council, you will be required to pay both rent and service charges.  The rent paid is for the property that you are occupying, the service charges are usually for the areas outside your property i.e communal lighting, grounds maintenance.  It is important that if you are claiming housing benefit or universal credit, you advise that service charges are being applied to your tenancy to ensure that your entitlement can be calculated correctly. Please refer to the cost section below for breakdown.
